It's been months since we heard Lily Allen has been chosen by Karl to be the new face of CHANEL. The Brit singer has often been spotted wearing CHANEL lately, and finally here are the images of the campaign for CHANEL's new Coco Cocoon reversible handbag collection. Shot by Karl himself. Airbrushed by... Madonna's mates?

WHEN I AM OBSESSED WITH KARL
By Melanie Crete on 06/16/09, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends
What a character! Karl Lagerfeld is very probably one of the person I found the most fascinating/intriguing/talented.
photo from Lagerfeld
Confidential, 2007.
Dark sunglasses, white ponytail, high starched collars and beringed hands, coupled with some lines that you just cannot forget like 'Those who love fashion wear fashion', 'Fashion is unfair and risky', 'I just want to be an apparition', 'People with turbulent lives spend their time on the phone', he is just amazing.
Lagerfeld Confidential is an interesting portrait of the living legend directed by Rodolphe Marconi in 2007. It is an extended interview without talking-head commentary, and even though it probably only shows 10% of the real Lagerfeld it is worth watching it! Here is a little taster...

WHEN THE BEAUTIFUL FALLS
By Melanie Crete on 12/29/08, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends

I have just finished an great book I received for Xmas about Fashion the 70's in Paris: The Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake.
Let's go back to the beginning. In 1954, Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent won a top prize from the International Wool Secretariat. Both were young, ambitious and determined to succeed (this sounds familiar...). The book details the parallel captivating careers and crazy lives the two designers had from that first meeting until the end of the 80's.
Neither Saint Laurent nor
Lagerfeld spoke to Alicia Drake, although she did succeed in talking to many of
the bit-part players who surround the two men including Pierre Berge, Loulou de
la Falaise, Betty Catroux, Pat Cleveland, Paloma Picasso, Helmut Newton, Anna
Piaggi... The book is full of rich descriptions and exclusive quotes
worth getting a copy of the book NOW.
Only frustration to me was that there are only a few pictures shown. Thanks God I found some more on the internet...
