WHEN LILY DOES CHANEL
By Melanie Crete on 08/05/09, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends
It's been months since we heard Lily Allen has been chosen by Karl to be the new face of CHANEL. The Brit singer has often been spotted wearing CHANEL lately, and finally here are the images of the campaign for CHANEL's new Coco Cocoon reversible handbag collection. Shot by Karl himself. Airbrushed by... Madonna's mates?

WHEN CHANEL IS DRIPPING
By Melanie Crete on 07/29/09, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends
Art or Vandalism? Zevs - who pioneered the French street art scene - has recently been condamned by the Honk Kong authorities for painting the CHANEL logo on... the outer wall above the window of a Giorgio Armani boutique in central Hong Kong.
Zevs is obviously not the first artist who has worked around the concept of the logo (the list is long, see for example my post about JCDC recent exhibition) but I like his idea of the dripping paint that gives the logo an appearance of dissolving. More work on Patricia Dorfmann's gallery website.07/10/09

photo from Lagerfeld
Confidential, 2007.
Dark sunglasses, white ponytail, high starched collars and beringed hands, coupled with some lines that you just cannot forget like 'Those who love fashion wear fashion', 'Fashion is unfair and risky', 'I just want to be an apparition', 'People with turbulent lives spend their time on the phone', he is just amazing.
Lagerfeld Confidential is an interesting portrait of the living legend directed by Rodolphe Marconi in 2007. It is an extended interview without talking-head commentary, and even though it probably only shows 10% of the real Lagerfeld it is worth watching it! Here is a little taster...

WHEN I DON'T GET MAKE UP
By Melanie Crete on 05/28/09, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends
Chanel launches a limited edition line of make-up inspired by... London. The Pearly Banner Palette - an ivory, gold and silver highlighter stamped with the Union Jack - is available exclusively from Selfridges this month and nationwide from July.
This £52 palette looks
pretty amazing, however I can't help myself but wonder how could I wear this
make up without looking like a character from Jem and the Holograms?
Help.

WHEN PEOPLE DREAM ABOUT A CHANEL CAR
By Melanie Crete on 05/19/09, - Virtual Moods & Real Trends
This has to be the (conceptual) car of the year. Designed by South Korean student Jin Young Jo, Fiole is a concept car clearly inspired by the codes of Chanel. Pure fantasy.
